I predominantly conduct practical tests out of Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport (KBUY), Raleigh Executive Jetport (KTTA), Raleigh-Durham International Airport (KRDU), and Johnston Regional Airport (KJNX).
I am available to conduct tests at other airports throughout central and eastern North Carolina on a case-by-case basis, subject to scheduling and operational availability. Depending on the location and my existing testing schedule, a travel fee may apply.
Outside the Raleigh area? I am available to travel to your location, however this must be pre-arranged, and will require additional travel expenses. Please see Policies below for more information. If you are interested in requesting I travel to your location, please contact me to discuss availability and associated travel costs.
The applicant is responsible for arriving fully prepared for the practical test. This includes ensuring that all eligibility requirements have been met, all required endorsements have been obtained, the aircraft is airworthy and appropriately equipped for the practical test, and all required records and documents are available for inspection. While I will gladly answer questions before your appointment, I cannot provide instruction or coaching during the practical test.
I accept cash (USD) or Zelle. I do not accept any other payment methods such as Venmo, Paypal, credit cards or personal checks.
There are no travel fees for practical tests conducted at my primary testing locations: Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport (KBUY), Raleigh Executive Jetport (KTTA), Raleigh-Durham International Airport (KRDU), and Johnston Regional Airport (KJNX). Applicants located within the greater Raleigh and Burlington area should plan to complete their practical test at one of these locations.
For applicants located elsewhere in eastern North Carolina, I am available to travel to your airport when scheduling permits. Travel fees may apply and will be based on the location, travel time, and any associated expenses. All travel costs will be discussed and agreed upon before your practical test is scheduled.
For out of area tests, associated costs will be determined on a case-by-case basis and discussed with the applicant prior to scheduling a practical test. Click here to contact me regarding out of area tests.
If your practical test is conducted at an airport other than one of my primary testing locations, you must provide a private area free from distractions and a reliable internet connection.
The posted fee schedule applies only to retests for applicants who received a Notice of Disapproval (NOD) on a previous practical test from me. Applicants seeking a retest after receiving a NOD from another examiner will be charged the full fee for the practical test regardless of tasks already completed on the first attempt, unless otherwise specified.
In most cases, I will not charge a fee to continue the test (within 60 days) in the event that a Letter of Discontinuance (LOD) is issued for unavoidable reasons such as:
Some reasons considered to be avoidable are:
A rescheduling fee may be charged if the practical test cannot begin because the applicant has not met the requirements necessary to conduct the test. Examples include:
I will make every reasonable effort to help correct the issue in an effort to avoid rescheduling the practical test.
IACRA is the preferred application method of both the FAA and me. It is generally easier to use, faster to process, and less likely to result in an application being returned for correction. I charge a $100 paper application fee for the preparation and submission of FAA Form 8710-1 on paper. The fee covers the additional administrative time required to process the application and mail it to the FAA by certified mail.
There will be no paper application fee if internet connectivity problems or an IACRA system outage require us to use a paper application.
Within 60 days of Notice of Disapproval (see Policies above)
For unavoidable reasons within 60 days of Letter of Discontinuance (see Policies above)
Fees are subject to change. Please confirm the current fee when scheduling your practical test. All fees are due prior to the start of the practical test or administrative certification service unless otherwise arranged.
